Stainless steel does not readily corrode, rust or stain as ordinary steel does. However, it is not fully stain-proof in low-oxygen, high-salinity, or poor air-circulation environments, it "stains less". There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment the alloy must endure. Stainless steel is used where both the strength of steel and high environmental resistance are required.
The most common form of steel is also known as plain or low carbon steel. It provides material properties that are acceptable for many applications. Low-carbon steel contains approximately 0.05–0.15% carbon making it ductile, readily weldable and machinable but more difficult to harden. Mild steel has a relatively low tensile strength, is cost-effective and easy to form.
Aluminum is remarkable for the metal's low density and for its ability to resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation. Structural components made from aluminum and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry but they are also useful in other areas of transportation, food or chemical handling and structural materials. No other metal can compare to Aluminum when it comes to its variety of uses and we can cut aluminum more quickly at our production facility in Edmonton.
